The Belconnen Community Council is a volunteer-led community organisation. Our role is to foster Belconnen's community identity and to be a strong voice for the community.

BCC public meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of each month from February to November, starting at 7pm on the ZOOM Virtual Meeting Platform. Meetings are public, and anyone who lives, works, studies or owns property in Belconnen is invited to participate.

First quarter crime statistics show drop in armed robbery, shop burglary offences

It is with great sadness we hear of Bruce Armstrong's passing. We mourn the creater of such an iconic part of Belconnen.While ofter a source of tounge-in-cheek humour, the Belconnen Owl is a unique and beautiful sculpture that is all too often associated with the phrase 'Belco Pride'.In honour of Mr Armstrong we would love to hear you favourite memories of the Belco Owl!I am broken hearted to learn of the passing of Bruce Armstrong - incredible Australian artist and the creator of the Belconnen Owl. The owl has become such a powerful sculpture and image which will always be associated with Canberra and especially with Belco.Art is at its best when it intrigues, challenges and sparks discussion - the owl has done all that and more. Most importantly, Canberrans have proudly embraced it as an icon.Bruce approached life with energy and good humour. He not only welcomed me incorporating the owl onto a t-shirt in 2019, but proudly showed it off himself against his owl maquette. Thank you Bruce for your incredible contribution to art and to Canberra.
