WVCC meeting: 4 Aug 2010

On the subject of last Wednesday night WVCC meeting:

David Dawes turned up with an entourage that had the potential to rival the list of extras for El Cid and gave an introduction to the two proposed variations.

The ACTPLA presentation was predictably very scant but then the subject was complicated.

The zone, single and multi dwelling codes were explained and some examples of the differences.

The much advertised advantages of solar access and sustainability did not seem to be so firmly set as we had been lead to believe.

Kathleen Pooley then showed the upcoming 4 year land releases in the Woden District.

In the Council's planning report Gina discussed some local issues and a meeting with Neil Savery about Neighbourhood Planning which he does not agree with.

Woodsmoke

Hi Shirley

For your and the BCC's information attached is the TCC submission on woodsmoke. I represented BCC at the meeting chaired by the Department of the Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Water on woodsmoke. At that meeting I stated that while Tuggeranong had particular problems associated with their topography, woodsmoke was a wide-ranging problem and hence BCC supported the broad thrust of TCC's presentation (which was less detailed than their attached submission).

If BCC agrees I would like a TCC supportive statement to be sent to David Power and a copy cc'd to Darryl Johnston. The supportive statement could be along the lines of: "While we are aware that Tuggeranong has particular problems associated with their topography, woodsmoke is a wide-ranging problem for those with breathing difficulties and other health impairments and hence BCC supported the broad thrust of TCC's submission".
