April 2008 Community Forum

The April 2008 Community Forum will be held at:

7.00pm, Tuesday 15 April 2008
Community Room, upstairs Belconnen Library
Chandler Street, Belconnen

Please note the start time of 7:00pm. The earlier start time is to allow proper coverage of two very important topics, the Belconnen Arts Centre and the development of the replacement Belconnen Bus Interchange.

Both topics at this April meeting are very important to the future of Belconnen. However, since they are quite different topics, we will be running them as self-contained meetings. This way, people who only wish to attend one of the two presentations can do so.

Starting at 7pm, ArtsACT is presenting the final architectural plans for the Belconnen Arts Centre to be built next to Lake Ginninderra on Emu Bank Drive. Stage 1 has full ACT government funding and barring unexpected events, should be completed by mid-2009.

Starting at 8pm, ACTPLA will be making a presentation on the development application to be submitted for the Belconnen Bus Interchange. Representatives from ACTION and RoadsACT will also be available to answer questions on how the plans will affect roads and bus services in Belconnen.

This is an exciting time for Belconnen. For the first time, Belconnen will have a facility dedicated to providing access to high quality artistic events. Additionally, the long awaited replacement of the Belconnen Bus Interchange seems to be finally gathering momentum.

I would encourage everyone to come along and provide feedback on these important changes.
