Establishing a network of 'suburb' contacts across the Belconnen Township

As President of Belconnen Community Council I am keen to make sure Council represents the widest community views in our region.

Council has a direct responsibility for communicating community views to government on on a range of issues, and particularly planning matters.

In order to make sure we capture and communicate suburb or region specific views I am seeking people in the 24 suburbs across Belconnen to nominate as a contact for their suburb.

The work I envisage the suburb contacts for Council to undertake is:

* being a contact for any suburb specifc issues that are notified to Council by the ACT Planning and Land Authority; and

* being a contact for suburb specific comments to Council and Government, especially on planning matters - road and public transport systems, Development Applications and Preliminary Assessments, local centres, schools, other community facilities, retail and residential development, parking and other issues of concern or interest within any Belconnen suburb.

I love to hear more of this

I love to hear more of this community and would really appreciate to know and learn what more it could give for me as an additional knowledge. I'm with the Turning Winds Academic Institute that caters teens with their problems and dilemma. Which I could also contribute to your community.

suburb contact

Susan,
As I live in Melba and worship in Evatt I can represent both as I am very familiar with the issues in both & they are actually adjacent.
Happy Christmas to you & your family, stay safe over the holidays and I will see you & the commitee in 2006.

Kind Regards,
Ken
