The Belconnen Community Council is a volunteer-led community organisation. Our role is to foster Belconnen's community identity and to be a strong voice for the community.

BCC public meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of each month from February to November, starting at 7pm in the Community Room, upstairs at the Belconnen Library on Chandler Street. Meetings are public, and anyone who lives, works, studies or owns property in Belconnen is invited to participate.

We covered a lot of topics in our community meeting on Tuesday night!Thank you to the team from the Suburban Land Agency who provided a presentation on the current plans for Lawson Stage 2, as well as the developments at Holt near the Caltex service station (Section 53), at Kippax, and at Belconnen Lakeshore. Latham residents have been invited by TCCS to give their thoughts on the possibility of re-opening the Dalley Crescent Cul-de-sac to become a carpark for access to Umbagong District Park. Local residents are being asked to submit their feedback by Friday 22nd July to communityengagement@act.gov.auThere will also be an opportunity to speak to Roads ACT staff on-site at the Cul-de-sac on Saturday 25th June from 10am-12pm.I know local residents will have opinions on whether the cul-de-sac should be re-opened and converted into a carpark for visitors to Umbagong District Park and I would strongly advise Latham locals to submit their thoughts to the government to ensure your voice is heard.While I understand the desire to get more people to our lovely parks like Umbagong I think that the best way to do that would be to upgrade the path network to the top quality to encourage more people to ride and walk along the lovely Ginninderra Creek corridor. If a car-park is constructed it would likely lead to more driving, parking and congestion for local residents.If money is available to convert the cul-de-sac to a carpark for visitors maybe it could be diverted to improving the path quality throughout the park for active travel users instead, whatever your thoughts on the idea please get your feedback in to the ACT Government’s community engagement email address. ...
